Her breath became shallow
Her throat started burning
All as she was running
Smoke coming out of her mouth
Created by the mix of her hot breath with the cold air
That's the only way she could breathe
Its below 60 degrees
Running after every beep
Just keep up with the beat
For her it was harder than it seems
Getting to the other side in time felt like climbing a mountain that was steeped
Still she was the second to the first that couldn't last
Everybody was shocked “not the smallest in the class”
Shamed by the coach asking “Are you okay, do you need to go to the nurse?”
She nodded yes.
“Control your breathing” the P.E. coach added.
Hiding asthma is something she wished she was good at; at least at that moment.
