Who would have thought there'd be someone
who would fall in love with all of my mess?

You knocked. I said, "Please, go away.
"You'll be afraid of what you'll see.
I'm scarred. I'm angry. I'm losing my mind.
You wouldn't want someone like me."

You deserve somebody better.
Someone who isn't burning from the inside....
Someone who has their shit together
and isn't wishing that they died.

But they say that love is patient...
and you do love me, you say
I've always been worth waiting for.
You repeat it every single day.

Because it's true. Love is patient.
My door was chained and locked.
I was hiding myself behind a wall.
You knew... and you still knocked.
💜
I told you to leave me alone.
You still asked if I would play.
I don't really wanna talk right now
but you refused to go away.

Because love is patient... and it's kind.
It stays even when you're scared.
It does not envy. Does not boast
and comes even when you're unprepared.

I'm glad you waited for me.
I'm glad you didn't run away.
I'm grateful that I have you,
and I hope you always stay.

The repeated knocking is such a powerful metaphor. It made the patience of love feel active, not passive.
This reminds me of how the little Prince got closer to the Fox. You put it in words beautifully.

This is the only bible verse I know, and it's my favorite thing that is so lost on people I love how it goes from despair, like not believing love is patient to being shown how patient love can be 💛💛💛
