The Fenham Fish Bar
A Villanelle For My Favourite Fish and Chip Shop
I have been frequenting the Fenham Fish Bar for over twenty years and it is one of the best fish and chips shops on Tyneside, if not even further afield.
The staff are great and the food is excellent, and it is a fish and chip shop, no pizzas or kebabs. They really know their stuff.
One of the things is that I feel this should really sit in the vocal "Feast" community, but that would mean expanding up to six hundred words when the villanelle, though not short, is nowhere near that number, so it will sit in "Poets".
I was trying to think of a piece of music and while "Salmon Song" from "Fish Rising" by Steve Hillage is one of my favourite guitar riffs ever (I have included it at the end of this piece if you feel inclined to explore, the album is a favourite of mine) I think "Perfect" by Fairground Attraction is the right song for the Fenham Fish Bar.
I did a villanelle for the excellent Snackwallah which you can read at the end of this one, so I thought it was time that the Fenham Fish Bar got one, so here it is.

Still Waiting For Godot
I first had to read "Waiting For Godot" by Samuel Beckett in English at Grammar School. I wasn't too impressed, but over the years I have come to really like the play. Music is, appropriately "Waiting For The Man" by The Velvet Underground.

If You Love Me, You'll Do It
I met Jason when I was five years old. I could say that I loved him from the moment I saw him. He was so handsome to me and I felt in awe by his presence. When they introduced him as the new kid in school, I wanted to be his friend right away. I remember it like it was yesterday. I remember his smile and how he didn't seem shy. He appeared confident and ready to learn. I waved at him and said "hello," before anyone else could even say a word. He sat next to me, and I asked him if he wanted to be friends. He looked so happy as he said, "Yes!"

Nicely done. Just one editorial note: In the fifth stanza you have, "I Love You All, Your Are My Friends...," instead of, "You Are...."
Omg, your poem made me hungry . This is a great idea for a challenge, people writing about their favorite restaurants. If I ever go to UK, you give plenty of listing of restaurants from several of your stories. Thanks for sharing. I love fish and French fries ๐
