The Fae

Everyone thinks fairies

Are not very scary

They seem so sweet

A delight to meet

So petite and tiny

So glittery and shiny

With fluttery wings

And voices to sing

And of course a must

Their magic fairy dust!

So, you’d be surprised to hear

There is a lot to fear

From these little mites

And their love of fights

They look so nice

But you better look twice

They are mean and spiteful

Not happy and delightful

They can be oh so cruel

They can be stubborn as a mule

They like to punch and kick

They love to make children sick

They like to pull your hair

If it hurts they don’t care

They will scratch your face

They will invade your space

Yell in your ear

Laugh at your tears

Get you in trouble

Your ums temper will bubble

They will break your things

Pinch till it stings

Invite a big mouse

To cause havoc in your house

Make your food decay

In less than a day

Open the door

Pour mud on the floor

But the worst thing they will do

Is try to take…You

Don’t be fooled by their charm

These creatures mean you harm

Babies they want to take

In their place leave a mistake

It’s eyes so stark

Evil and dark

Pointy little teeth

It beggars belief

Something feral and wild

They leave a Changeling Child

This is the fairies aim

To them it’s just a game

They don’t have much to gain

They just like causing pain

And a babe they will take

Through its heart drive a stake

Leave the little body alone

No feeling in their hearts of stone

In the child’s place they left a beast

And on your fear they will feast

The only way to avoid the Fae

Is to make them go away!

Lock windows and doors at night

If you glimpse that twinkling light

Crush it with hand

This I must demand!

Do not listen to their sweet song

They will lead you away before long

Make sure you cover your ears

Else it will all end in tears

There is one thing you must never do

My darling let me tell you

you must never, never

(And I mean never, ever!)

Tell a fae your given name

It would be such a shame

Giving your name to a Fae

Gives them permission to take you away

If I say ‘Fae my name is Nieve!)

I’ve just g-………..
