The Easter Bunny Revisited

It is that time of year again

The Easter Bunny will soon be here

It is that time of year

Will he even get here, there or anywhere

with all the snow and ice due far and near

~

I found myself saying we may

have pineapple pizza, and then I say

we have no plans right?

It brought a tear, what a sight!

Almost a month away and not sleeping at night.

~

I remember being alone, so

alone on Easter Sunday not that long ago.

Hubby reminded me it was the pandemic! Oh!

That is why I was feeling so low!

~

Here I thought it was the full-moon

some will be fasting real soon

I didn't miss the pandemic

Both hubby and I did get sick

We are hoping for a reprieve

from the new strains some receive.

~

It is nice to not be missing family

I am always profamily

And the pandemic interfered with my sunny

disposition and all the money

I planned to receive and yes, it can't still be the moon

~

It wasn't the moon, as the full moon was on the 14th,

and it's now a week later and the umteenth

time the moon was blamed. The next one to blame is April 13th.

Can we end this real soon, maybe before noon

Authors note: I intend to revisit some previous posts that didn't get much attention. Some may not notice but I know if Dharrsheena reads it she will remember it, so it is on purpose and the revisited will be a telltale sign that the story was around before and you don't have to reread and this is why I had to mention. If you choose to read, you can see if you might recognize the changes I've made and like this version!

Nice poem, Denise. This poem captures a mix of emotions—nostalgia, humor, and reflection—wrapped up in the anticipation of Easter. I love the playful nods to the moon, the pandemic memories, and the longing for family time. Wishing you a joyful Easter season, hopefully with good company (and maybe even some pineapple pizza)! 🌸🐰🍍🍕

  • Oh no, I don't know what have you changed. I just have a vague memory of this so I enjoyed the reread hehehehhe

A nice poem, Denise. "Will he even get here, there or anywhere with all the snow and ice due far and near" No problem here with the snow. The question is, will the heat go before app the chocolate melts? I don't buy Easter eggs anymore because I am not near my family (they are all on the other side of the country) and my little dogs can't have chocolate.

This tickles my memory. Some lines stand out to me more than others. I know I've read this before, but I've enjoyed rereading it all the same. Revisions or no revisions

This poem is a wonderfully chaotic and relatable ramble through thoughts and feelings about Easter. "Almost a month away and not sleeping at night" perfectly captures that pre-holiday anxiety, even for seemingly small things. The mix of humor, pandemic reflections, and family longing creates a surprisingly poignant and human piece.🌞🩶🤎

Revision or no revisions your poems are usually something else really great. I remember this image and it does read smoother. Great work.
