The Destruction Takes Hold
Walk away before it’s too late

A little boy of just six years of age, delightful with his winning smile,
He is full of the charm of the innocent, the sweet babe,
Delighting all and sundry with his cheeky cuteness,
His excitement shining from dark eyes.
******
But life isn’t kind, it isn’t cute, and it certainly isn’t gentle,
It rode him hard, broke his back and took his innocence,
Frozen in time, never to grow up,
The mind of a broken child.
******
He became guarded, his skin thickened,
And he wanders through life protecting and projecting,
Turning any form of love into a game,
One at which he excels.
******
He has mastered the ability to draw you in with his haunting looks,
Magical charm and false words,
He worked hard to become the best of the best,
Showering affection with considerate ease.
******
Just a six year old boy,
Full of tantrums and misconceptions,
Unknowingly push his buttons to turn on his ire,
And his demons will quickly rise to the fore.
******
This is when you need to take cover!
Run for the hills, because you’re not safe with the battleground drawn,
You’ll learn the very definition of cruelty,
A six year old’s destructive warfare is unsurvivable, an explosive force of evil.
******
You’ll not come away unscathed,
It’ll break you, shatter you into a thousand pieces and scatter you in every direction,
You’ll be traumatised for years to come,
And it’s not worth the wild ride.
******
So, take note of those initial red flags,
Walk away while you’re still mainly whole,
Ward your heart, don’t let that child in,
Or it will become the gravest mistake of your entire life!

This is disturbing…in a good for the reader way. Haunting and foreboding
Wow, That was amazing. They can't all be saved, can they? Well done.
Haunting and sad!!! Poignantly penned!!!❤️❤️💕
But he's just a child. He needs help to heal, right?
Stunning imagery and emotional depth combined.
Whoa, this piece really packs a punch! It takes the whole "innocent child" trope and flips it on its head in such a powerful way. The ending’s like a “run for your life” moment, but in the best kind of dark way.
