The Death Of A Hero

A Saga with a Morel

By Joseph D HamiltonPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Guns could not destroy him

Bullets and bombs bounced off

Swords and knives were useless

At them, he would only scoff

A man of solid iron

Made like the strongest steel

He appeared to have no weakness

At least none that he would reveal

His greatest foes could not withstand

They never really had a chance

Each and everyone was defeated

Almost at a single glance

A man of courage like no other

A hero of great power

He stood for right and justice

And never did he cower

His enemies could never win

He simply would not die

They never could guess his weakness

To be a simple ham on rye

Jelly rolls and doughnuts

Cream puffs and chocolate cake

Our hero’s weakness was a simple one

Of that, there was no mistake

His foes would all give in

Thinking that he could not be beat

Little did they realize

His fondness for something sweet

It was not poison or guns or bombs

That caused or hero to fall

It wasn’t a cunning plan or trap

But high cholesterol

With an ever expanding waistline

And sugar on his breath

Our hero met his fated end

When he ate himself to death.
