White

The Absence of Life

By Joseph D HamiltonPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

White

What does that mean?

What shade is that exactly?

From all the colors red to green.

White

My skin is pink, my blood is red

My skin is the tapestry of life

Scars and wrinkles from my toes to my head

White

For the lack of melanin, you give me grace.

What reason is that to privilege me?

Because you think we are alike I am embraced.

White

That is the absence of all color and it is void

I am not my skin color, and neither are you

It is not a tactic that I will employ

White

No reason here to parse a phrase

It is the lack of all definition and life

The color of nothing and it shrouds us all in a haze.
