The Day Ends

But do we?

By Chloe RigbyPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

When gazing upon the sky in wonder and awe;

a calm settles over my soul as I prepare to witness today's new masterpiece.

The sun dips beyond the mountains peak and I inhale as it begins to change the colors of the blue sky.

First it is a bright yellow that makes me remember the carefree laughter and freedom of my childhood,

Blending into an orange that sparks the feeling of watching leaves fall in autumns season and carving pumpkins with loved ones.

the sky shifts from a bright blue to a pale blue that suggests thin veil hiding the true dark color of space behind it.

The mountains slowly swallow the moon and makes me smile softly as a gentle red is revealed to me as it blends into a vibrant then pale pink.

I am bittersweet as it reminds of tender love and gentle kisses before thinking of what is was like to first get a crush on someone.

A singly tear trails slowly down my cheek as I close my eyes on the final colors.

A deep royal purple fading out into a dark blue reminiscent of a deep pool of water in it's stillness and calming entirety.

In the last moments of the end of the day, I sit in the dark of the night and ask myself if today is the only that has ended?
