The Covid Poem To Cheer Up To
A Poem For Our Year With Covid
Oh lord no,
where did all the toilet paper go?
People gathered in their masses,
buying cleaners and disinfectants,
and all the paper for their asses.
They all worried, on the eve of our destruction,
how much their buttholes would still function.
They left little on the shelves of Walmarts everywhere,
afraid of the unknowns of covid-19 and living in terror.
Little was left in their shopping frenzied wake,
they bought it all including each and every steak.
They tried to sell things from their garages and basements, like a profiteer,
hoping to cash in on all that fear.
Now here we are, it's been over a year,
for the victims who suffered, those that died, we shed a tear.
For the hoarders, the frenzied shoppers, the greedy that tried to pray,
you'll be the ones that rot in hell one day.
To the politicians that postured, gamed, and bickered
while many needed you to lead,
You'll be joining those in hell, indeed.
The rest of us, our lives were shattered.
Unable to do the things that mattered.
Locked down and trapped like rats in a cage,
each and everyone one of us suffered,
including the guy putting words on this page.
Be proud you survived it, take those lessons you had to bear.
For richer or poorer, we all learned the lesson, life isn't always fair.
