The Color of Me

True Colors

By Tony BlankenshipPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I am magenta, hear me roar

I am finger flipping off red maga hat

I am rainbow jersey flapping in the wind

I am white of the brightest star

I am like you, made of all these things

I am the crimson tide, crashing in from the sea

I am brass of shell casings, scattered in white body tape

I am the color of blood, streaked in dried hair, caked under fingernails

Grey of cement, smashed into my face

I am Black Lives Matter, as am I also the thin blue line

I am 9,999 white bloods cells, not actually white at all, I am blue-green veins

I am like you, made of all these things

I am a red, white and blue ribbon, strutting my stuff, all the world to see

I am like you, made of all these things

I am like you, I am the color of me.
