The Body Doesn’t Lie

This poem belongs to Chapter 1: Soul Awakening. This poem invites us to listen to the body without fear or guilt. True health is born when we stop punishing ourselves. The body doesn’t lie, and neither does this poem.

They told you sugar kills,

that cigarettes invite cancer,

that wine is a slow poison,

and pleasure comes at a cost.

The worst part is that you believed it.

You swallowed guilt every time you tasted joy.

But there are elders who laugh with every puff,

and drink Sundays guilt-free well into their nineties.

And there are young ones who lived “perfectly,”

but died consumed by fear.

It’s not the cigarette,

not the meat,

not the sugar —

it’s the emotions you swallow without digesting.

The life you never danced,

the body craving warmth,

and you handed it control.

The body doesn’t lie.

It speaks through cravings,

through fatigue,

through intuition.

Don’t follow others’ rules.

Ask your temple,

“Does this bring me peace?

Does this give me life?

Does this make me happy?”

Here’s the advice:

Eat your joy,

breathe your permission,

drink your truth.

And when your body says no,

thank it, then let go.

But do it from yourself,

not from inherited fear.

Your body doesn’t need punishment,

it just needs to be heard.
