The Bird’s Farewell

Recast in heavens gardens little one so sweet

The Bird’s Farewell

This bird was shot, now it sleeps,

Where heaven’s silence softly keeps.

Its wings once soared, its song once bright,

Now rests beneath eternal light.

Red poppies bloom, a solemn crown,

From feathers fallen, softly down.

A life once vibrant, now made still,

The beauty taken. At the wicked ones will.

Its voice may fade, its flight may cease,

But in this rest, it finds its peace.

Among the clouds, where angels weep,

This bird with Jesus, in heaven’s keep.

God rest little darling. You fly no more

remember you are safe for ever more.

I love your use of poppies, as a form of remembrance. Beautiful imagery here.

This is a sad poem about a little bird, but bad things happen and one must endure.
