Pretend for a moment that everything is okay. That the brazenly blatant disrespect never occurred. Nor the pretentiously laid out lies. When the desire to be more made such a prevalent presence in your mind. The white knight never bowed before the grayed castle walls.

Pretend for a moment that you’re okay.

Dishonest impressions are deemed more fitting than the truth. That simple fall left an important memory in her heart, unlike the haughty story you told a thousand times. Tell me when you stumbled over your own lies. Silver seems seductive but red bleeds from you.

Your truth lost it’s luster the moment you let greed suffocate your ever lasting love. Unending denial betrays your need to be more. Pray tell how you’ll grow when your soul is so jaded. Do you even remember the last time you were honest with yourself? Green eyes can’t see the golden treasures in front of them.

Pretend for a moment that everything is okay.

Tear down the walls you placed around yourself. Let cry what you’ve locked inside. Belittling the heart you wear on your sleeve makes matters so much worse. That red rose bastard is who you’re meant to be. Not a silver tongued fool.

About the Creator

Jake Trammell

I write things I could never speak aloud. Usually in the form of poetry or short stories. One day I’d like to write a novel.
