Thank You For Letting Me Go
You led me on my truest path to finding love
To the ones who gambled and lost a fortune;
Me:
You don’t belong anywhere near my heart
there is no you and me
nor an us
not a thing between us
except distance and memories.
Never again
will you make me question myself
forget that the reflection
in the mirror
is worthy of the world.
You spent forever
giving me every reason
why I was not the one.
So here you go,
my present to you
wrapped in a sweet bow;
is this proclamation
of thanks.
Turns out you were right,
I was not your one,
was never yours
and always will be his.
Thank you for your gift
of throwing me away.
He caught me
will never let me go,
not treat me as an afterthought
never use me
or abuse me.
He will only love...
love today
love tomorrow
love me always.
