surreal poetry
Surrealist poetry embodies the essence of poetry itself, drawing upon shocking imagery and lyrical incongruities to comment on the inner-workings of the mind.
The Mad Hatter
Cheshire cat sits on my shoulder. With a gleam in his eye and a sinister grin, he whispers in my ear. "You're mad as a hatter. You're perfect for this role. This year has ravaged you, taken it's toll. Your colors are faded, so should you paint on the rouge. Put on a colorful tailcoat and an oversized top hat, too. But do not dismay, your life is destined to change most capraesque.. Once you learn to ask questions such as: "Why is a raven like a writing desk?". I heed his words, and before my eyes he begins to disappear. I think I'm hallucinating, and as if he can read my fear, his grin grows wider as he says "We are ALL mad here."
