I recently came across a poem that I had written at a very dark time in my life. This is kind of hard to share because it is probably my most personal poem to date and I pull no punches when it comes to uncomfortable imagery. There isn't too much rhyme or reason to this one, seeing as it is more of a freeform poem. I call it:

The Epiphany
I actually wrote this as a junior in high school believe it or not. I remember it was for an English assignment, but my teacher proudly hung a copy on the wall because she liked it so much that she deemed it worthy to be on display 24/7. Apparently that elusive validation of my writing that I so desperately craved was exactly what I needed to remain inspired enough to keep writing almost 15 years later. Thank you to that wonderful woman and her encouragement.

When no one is looking
We are all creation of love, without it we wither and die. To those that have much, share with those that have less. Be kind to that woman sitting on the sidewalk asking for help, shes not a bum, she doesn't want to be there either. Her husband died and she couldnt afford to pay her rent.
