Syllabic Shift

….sanctioned?

Someone “superior” said…

Systems should stand strong!

Sonnets, stanzas, syllables….

Surely substantial stuff so solid, so serious, shouldn’t significantly shift?

Still sometimes seen…slowly slipping southward…

…so say something?

Surely someone shall!

Sigh…still swept some shiny success…

Seriously, say SOMEONE saw!?

Salvage some satisfaction somehow…

Sadness smothers sincere, stickler souls.

Wow, so good! My favorite line "Surely substantial stuff so solid, so serious, shouldn’t significantly shift?" To go from standing strong to significantly shifting, you traversed from one meaning to the opposite all with the same letter! This was a great one.

This one was a little above my knowledge skills with prose. I still liked it but probably for a whole different reason.

This is why I stick to prose. I get the alliteration, but what are you saying? Okay, I'm a neanderthal but you lost me on this one Donna. Judging from the other comments it's great, so I'll go along with them.

"Suffering succotash'', says Sylvester, that's good alliteration right there! And yes, I had to use the spellchecker for 'succotash'. 😁

Oh I love some alliteration this was excellent!! Was this a writing challenge you gave to yourself or did the "s" theme come instinctually? I'm always so interested in process for something unique like this!

Some stigmatized systems should stop spilling syllables seductively... So... Share sedulously! ;)
