Sweet exhaustion
Photo by Omar Lopez on Unsplash

I lay my arm against the edge of the tub

Looking at you, my baby boy, so happy and healthy despite all odds

I can’t even feel how exhausted I really am

Can’t hear the deeply engrained, pitted bone-deep voice that’s telling me——go rest

—-it’s our sweet exhaustion of love.
