Most perfect, sweet boy

I love you so much.

I am sorry for yelling, for making you wait.

When it was just you I was dropping you off each morning.

While I obsessed over you in silence at my desk.

While someone else held you, fed you, smiled at you.

Now it is no longer just you and me, for a new, smaller being takes your place, and my time.

Now I get to hold her, feed her, smile at her, a lifetime away from that desk.

You are older now. I still yell sometimes, I still make you wait. I am still sorry.

My heart holds those years that went by. Your heart holds me still, none the wiser about my guilt.

I'll be with you now, as much as I can.

I'll hold you. I'll feed you. I'll never stop smiling at you.

Most perfect, sweet boy.
