At the very top I stand
marveling down at the city of romance,
injecting myself with its needle.
I take it all in,
embracing the warm sensation
deep into my body –
it’s easy to fall in love here.
Rushing through my veins
I am entranced and still
I only crave more.
One fix of you is never enough,
So seduce my senses -
and set me free.
These city lights shine in confirmation,
effortlessly, my body gives in
to this innate temptation.
Why try to stay away, my dear
when I simply…
can’t give you up?
I give in.
Letting go, now I only feel the breeze
Gently carrying me, yet knowing
I fell.

My poetry collection Beautiful and Brutal Things is done. It's actually done and finally published over 270 pages. Over a year of my life went into this book. More than a year, really. Long days at my computer, sometimes seven days a week because I couldn't stop even when I probably should have. Then two months of editing that felt harder than the writing itself. But it's finished, and I'm still standing, and the book is real.
