in Spring or Autumn sunsets
Mount Rainier blends behind it
graying out slowly
in the waning sunlight
straining to reach it's outline

The idea of a mountain straining makes me think of the giant turtle from The Neverending Story stretching its neck and yawning. Just an instant image that popped into my mind. Lovely picture and poem! Well-wrought!
