Sunrise

A Morning Poem

The sun emerges from the horizon

In its well-defined orbit

Inking the sky with shades of gold

Greeting the dwellers behind closed windows

The coming of a new day

Whether they have the courage to face it or not

Dark silhouettes of trees

Restore the greenness of their leaves

The black silk of the river

Glitters with dancing waves

Even the child who tried to hide

Stands before the open curtain

A dim shadow cast on the wall behind

Even he is intrigued

Invited to melt into life’s sacred center
