Sunny Days

PNW

By Andrea Corwin Published 2 years ago 1 min read

blue skies create a flurry of activity

alpine skiers on the Mountain

cyclists and motorcyclists racing the sun

enjoying the brilliant brightness of the daystar’s glare

in Washington, in the PNW, on the western side of mountains, we run outside to gather the rays and blueness,

gather it into our lungs and hearts

storing it like squirrels hiding their nuts

so we can pull up the brightness and warmth on a bleak gray day

housework stopped and sick days used

spring cherry blossoms reflecting from our irises, aging beams of joy from our eyes

we walk with jackets unzipped, dodging enormous bumblebees that are searching for a bright spot to land, a bloom, or a pink shirt

we turn into solar panels sucking up the rays, beaming them out as if WE are the sun…

…until the chill pushes back in and we are once again stuck in the groove of weather that resides where we live, that patch between the sea and mountains.

yet days later, a weather HIGH slides over, and we awaken to Mount Rainier’s enormous ice-cream cone gloriously shining in the sun and dwarfing the landscape.

No place more beautiful with the sun than the northwest - except for Alaska. Wonderful vibrant buoyant imagery.
