Sunflower

Poem about being set free from a very abusive relationship.

By Savannaha Klein Published 3 years ago 1 min read

Sad girl, remember why you cried.

Sad girl, you’re worth more than the lies.

Sad girl, all the flowers have died.

Sad girl, time to wipe your eyes.

Sad girl, your innocence made you pay the price.

Sad girl, why’d you accept the bottle?

Sad girl, how could you go back twice?

Sad girl, now you’re spiraling full throttle.

Sad girl, you’ve realized too late that you were captured.

Sad girl, now you spend all your nights telling secrets to the moon.

Sad girl, once again he’s left you fractured.

Sad girl, please get out soon.

Sad girl, you’re playing with fire.

Sad girl, he told you not to run.

Sad girl, put down the pliers.

Sad girl, you can’t outrun a gun.

Sad girl, just wait it out.

Sad girl, just a little bit longer.

Sad girl, there is no doubt.

Sad girl, you’re a little bit stronger.

Sad girl, you’re finally free.

Sad girl, you beat the cards you were dealt.

Sad girl, now don’t you see?

Sad girl, please get some help.

Sad girl, now pick up the phone.

Sad girl, you’ve got the power.

Sad girl, you’re never alone.

Sad girl, bloom, you’re a sunflower.

About the Creator

Savannaha Klein

Sadness never hides in the depths of your eyes. The Sad Girl series follows a true broken path of alcoholism, miscarriage, mental health, shattered relationships, and more. My work contains the brutal honesty that comes with all of it.
