Late summer days
Sweet breeze and golden sand
Just careless laughs, no time to notice
Pink sunburn marks on the back of my hand
Drops large and heavy
Of ocean lingering on tanning skin
The world reflects in this small salty dew
And shows me places where I’ve never been never been
Warm air and breath
I place salt kisses on his head
If for a second I could turn my eyes away
Maybe I’d see the sunset sky turn red
My face is pale, my suit is grey
The morning train, I rub my sleepy eyes
And then I see a hint of sunrise red
Remembering those August days my whole face smiles
If you look closely, you can find
Red marks of sweet unnoticed rays
On my left cheek, like lipstick kisses left behind
By the warm sun in those last summer days.
