Sugar Goblins by pdr

Round 1

You love ‘em, you lead ‘em and you feed ‘em.

everything and anything melds together.

Gargantuan piles of bottles, diapers and pins,

Pampers and bibs, blankies, snow bobo,

laundry piles all around, a thermometer

in every booty, a tooth fairy, and juicies.

Have I forgotten anything?.

Round 2

To get them to comply,

you coddle them,

You chew on their toes.,

you wipe their noses, and sing

“Twinkle, twinkle little Star,

How I wonder what you are.”

You swear by their new name,

they will be the greatest,

a little carbon copy of what you used to be.

You watch them weed into trees, and

they walk as giants among us.

You love ‘em.

Round 3

The world looks at you,

a woman with the craze.

A road runner on roller skates,

yet, you walk around in a daze.

Sleep has no name,

only your weight is in this game.

You’ve never felt more miserable,

Especially when old father time

comes knocking in January.

Round 4

You weigh into life and ask, what I did wrong, is right.

You wonder why they do not listen.

You wonder if you stepped onto the wrong boat.

You wonder, why am I doing the jitterbug twist.

You continue into this fog when they’re sick.

You fall out of bed each morning, what the heck!

Round 5

From dawn to beyond dust,

nightmares follow you into sleep,

when dreams collide like wild atoms,

a horse gallop in heat.

The chase around the kitchen counter

boils down to potatoes, chicken soup,

carrots, sweet onions, delicious broth,

sour and sore bunions in pursuit.

What was I thinking, wanting this bundle of joy,

at full speed ahead, the steam roller belts out B-flat.

Twisted in blue on a tar mat, you cannot match that.

Round 6

You still wonder why January is so old.

You wonder why you feel so cold.

You wonder what happened over this wondrous holiday.

Are spiders multiplying in the shadows in rafters?

from Halloween hangovers, three months before.

You wonder what blood curses through their veins.

Did gremlins invade the walls of your house.

You wonder if they were switched at birth.

You wonder whose sugar goblin is this.
