baking the cookies, then frosting them too

crispy brown sugar thins, easy to chew

stars and snowmen, and powdered sugar balls

fragrance filling all the home's halls

little cheeks and noses are red

outside in snow piles and their sled

cedar logs crackle and snap

Mama wraps presents, and Papa naps

snowflakes fall gently in a minus-ten-day

the kids aren't worried and continue to play

finally, the sun sets to a moonlit sky

and Papa places the tree's angel up high

all gather around and sing some tunes

until carolers arrive with some background croons

the day was long and merry

and now the adults sip sherry

telling the children to head to rest

so they can be ready for Santa's best.

This is wonderful...had me from the first line and imagery and your rhymes and flow throughout the poem are just sublime. Well done and glad to share the winner's circle with you, Andrea!

  • Yippee!👏🥳 Congratulations 🙌. A delightful poem with rhythm & rhyme to celebrate the season. My favourite part is: “ Mama wraps presents, and Papa naps snowflakes fall gently in a minus-ten-day the kids aren't worried and continue to play finally, the sun sets to a moonlit sky and Papa places the tree's angel up high all gather around and sing some tunes until carolers arrive with some background croons”. It’s a ‘cool’ 27 degrees C inside at the moment, here in Oz.🤗
