Suddenly there was life

'Light Breaks Water' challenge

By Calvin LondonPublished 6 months ago โ€ข 1 min read

I sat in my little boat,

As the sun began to rise,

It gently kissed the water,

Not a ripple did arise.

A gentle kiss became one of love,

As it warmed, the surface still,

Creatures stirred, coming to life,

Waking, against their will.

Like a loverโ€™s; kiss you canโ€™t refuse,

No matter how you try,

That gentle buzz becomes a rush,

Like sunrise in your eye.

๐ŸŒ…๐ŸŒ…๐ŸŒ…๐ŸŒ…

All was quiet, all was calm,

I felt the heart of the sun.

The silence was deafening,

No noise, no voice from the water still,

The water was calm and listless, easy on my eyes.

Disturbance came with just one pop,

An answer to the light of the sun.

Though nothing could be seen,

A circle formed concentric waves,

No source was found for what had been.

The sun had warmed the waters still,

Life was up for another day, warmed by the sun.

๐ŸŒ…๐ŸŒ…๐ŸŒ…๐ŸŒ…

Till next time,

Calvin
