Suburbia Reminded

Nature Collection

By Jessica ConwayPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Worms under velvet earth squirm

A dog pleads, dragging at the door

Beetles hike up blades of grass

Sunlight slowly streams across the pale sky

A dog startles the beetles

Birds kick and scratch in midair

Sunlight peers on through branches stretched across the sky

Hares hop and pause

Birds sing a theme, leaping on air

Jogging below, a silver-haired dame

Hares hop and chew and pause

Wind whistles out its name

Right, left, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, a silver-haired dame

The jowls of a fox reach out

A breeze catching its name

The dead eyes, glossy and thick

Stretched across the pavement, a fox reaching out

Pink, red, white smeared

The dead eyes see all

Birds circling above Death’s crib

With a lullaby wrenched

From the silver-haired dame
