Precursor to greatness
Or hints of provocation
The epigraphic prelude
Before the lingual deluge
Or claustrophobic constraint
Dressed up as your formatting norm
-
The ruse is up before the first line
Is uttered and understood
-
A simple poem or by author’s name
Or fancy like “After the Road Less Travelled”
-
Straitjacket to creative surprise
Like placards with applause and canned laughter
-
White space forgotten
As the liminal poesy precipice
Before the drop
Into literary intrigue and lambastery

Oh my god, Paul! Your poetry as improved leaps and bounds from when I first started reading however many years it's been now. Wow!! Your diction here is not only impressive but precise and purposeful. I actually read it a few times to get the whole picture as many of these words are not in my usual vocabulary!! I read the below comments and I've gathered this is aimed at subtitles? My opinion is pretty straight forward on them too: fuck em. xD I hate coming up with them, I hate how sometimes they spoil whatever the published work is about, and I hate that it is required ( though I think it's important for SEO? Like hell if I know... ) and I wish I had better ideas for them lol Fantastic poem, Paul. Seriously. This one is very impressive.

I’m deep in my cups at the moment— but at the current moment I’m with you. Insofar as I agree with the idea that a title primes the reader for what’s to come. I kind of hate thinking of titles hahah I have about three stories in my drafts labeled “untitled 1, 2, and 3” But I agree with you, I think.. once you attach a creators name to something you’re telegraphing to a reader what they can expect to see
