Stubborn Or Stupid

Fragility Feels The Same

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

The way is fragile

The lines are hard

Life, it's a battle

Giving calico scars

I remember the beginning

Don’t know when it slipped away

Sent my head spinning

Into the decay

They'd say, never grow up

But always show up, was spun

You can never give up

You know now, that’s a tough one

On the cusp of letting go

Maybe throwing in the towel

Riding this merry-go round

With my demons on the prowl

Wearing the mask, twenty-four-seven

Can't stand to look underneath

Want to believe in heaven

But the truth is baring its teeth

You're standing on the outside

Watching flashbacks of your life

Recalling when you were inside

Once a contender in the fight

Now you're the has been

Who never really was

The banished ugly duckling

Declawed and exposed by your flaws

Go on and jump

No-one is watching

Stop caressing the cusp

It's the unknown that is shocking

Good work. One must love oneself first then others if I read the poem right.
