The day we celebrate you
I will eat you whole!

I will eat only one slice
It’s better than none

A/N: National Cheesecake Day, established in 1985, is annually celebrated across the United States on 30 July. The origin of this celebration is unclear, but who needs to know when the most important thing is that you get to eat cheesecake!
Some sources say it was conceived to celebrate the popular dessert and the many variations of cheesecake. Many restaurants and bakeries offer special deals and promotions on this day.

The challenge asks for a 200-word poem. That’s too much of a challenge for me, so I created my own minimalist version. All the words I used in the Senryū can be found in The Sleeper by Edgar Allan Poe.

These two senryus shows your love for cheesecake, beautifully. The first one shows your unapologetic unrestraint and the second, your strategic plan to eat your way up to the day or to try to eat only one slice. Which makes this both hilarious and wholesome. And that reminds me, I've been looking for a special slice of cheesecake in our grocery store and it seems they've... Discontinued it. The sadness is too much to bare 😭
Lovely Susan. There is nothing quite like a good cheesecake. The problem is not eating it all at once. My solution, I make mini cheesecakes that you can ration out. 😊😊
