Storm dwelling.

Thunder shouts as lightning cracks while the raindrops

poor down on the pond dwellers as they

paddle near the shore line.

Face down in the depths while feathers struggle in the

air, the raindrops dripping near the edge of leaves as the

trees sway like dancers to the tempo of the wind.

Child astray onto the land, mother unaware as

she dines at the mid pond buffet,

Raise up into the depths while something is amiss,

The four are here, one astray, thief in the bushes at the ready,

Steady as she goes, drawing closer,

As a lion pounces on a zebra,

The house cat pounces upon the stray as

mama’s heart is torn.

Taken in the rainfall while her heart forever endures the storm.
