Stop Recording

Summer's Day Challenge

By BETTY A McEachernPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

I fell in love on the dock, summer sun hitting my shoulders, arms, and face,

We must have looked like a flock, dancing and singing all over the place,

The singing was bad even mine, the dancing was a funny sight to see,

Do you remember it too? Did you fall into that easy love as I did?

I fell in love:

With the sun's rays, the salty ocean air, The carefree days, The unkempt

beachy hair, The laughter and the joy, The singing off-key, The times we’d

annoy, The made-up dance, Dad recording all of us fools, I wish we had the

chance, I wish we had the tools, To live forever in that one day, Never

have to say goodbye, Never have to look away,

I fell in love:

With the happy child who was once in me, The happy sister who was once

in you, The patient dad who was holding steady, We never stopped

dancing, Never Knew,

And then the setting sun meant we had to...

About the Creator

BETTY A McEachern

I read because I'm nosey. I love words, and stories, and make-believe, and knowledge. I can't stand knowing there are words on a page if I don't know what they say. I write for the same reasons.
