Steal my Sunshine

Universal Donor

By Amos GladePublished 7 months ago 1 min read

Hello, it’s nice to meet you and I’m really glad I’m here.

I’m happy, effervescent, and I’m sure to bring you cheer.

You’ll tell me your life story before you disappear.

It won’t take long,

A beer, a song,

Another stranger comes along,

They whine, opine,

My attention confined,

Just to steal a little sunshine.

Until I am left, unhinged, unreasoning,

And I go screaming into the evening.

Oh this was delish! It felt like being inside a people-pleaser’s internal monologue with a megaphone.✨

A short poem and yet you packed so much into it. It had me wanting to cry at the end. I hope no one steals your light, Amos, because you deserve to shine brightly.
