The Team Wants to Meet

By Amos GladePublished 8 months ago Updated 8 months ago 1 min read

"Can I call you real quick?

It would be easier to chat."

Words to make my stomach sick,

Words to prepare for mental combat.

Meetings that could have been an email,

While I sit and dream of gin-soaked cocktails,

Rolling my eyes with the drum of my nails.

Is she chewing on gum?

Why is that one so dumb?

I want to scream and yell;

My emotions go numb.

Who hired this guy?

That one flat out told a lie.

The clock ticks its tock

Time slowly goes by.

I don’t understand the job that you do,

I don’t understand and it seems neither do you.

But we push on through,

And we smile polite,

It’s nearly Friday, the weekend in sight.

Another great read.! Even though I am retired it still rings true in some of my situations. Thanks for sharing.

I've always preferred texting/messaging over calls. It allows you more time to think on a reply, and you just don't have to deal with a voice in your ear. 🙄 And this is just the start of your poem; the whole thing is relateable. We're always just pushing on to end of the week. So it goes, I suppose. 😩 Nicely done once again, Amos. Best of luck in the challenge!
