Static
Written and performed by Elle Schillereff and Dominic Brooks. A song from my 20s when I lived in Liverpool. A song about found family.
Something a little different this week and one of the most precious projects I've ever worked on. Dom and I stayed up drinking whiskey, labouring away on Ableton, for countless hours making this song and I loved every delightful and occasionally tedious second. An experience I'll always treasure.
----
Secrets hug under your tongue
Words there listing in the mud
But we're not meant to be alone
Maybe some will slice the wire
Wander out into the quiet
But I'm not meant to be alone
.
So this is a new place to fathom
And you're the strongest one of all
And when I'm run out and ragged
You're the one I want to call
.
We reflect until there's none
Nothing left now to be done
But you will never be alone
Feelings rot and they give birth
You faced my hurt down in the dirt
Racing out towards what's to come
.
So you will learn a new language
And let the toe rags run
And when you're surrounded by static
I want to be your sun
I want to be your sun
I want to be your sun
