Springtime in London
Spring in the time of coronavirus

Springtime in London
The trees burst forth in blossom
Blissfully bright
In a silent city
No crunch of petals
Beneath commuter’s
Busy feet
Just the delicate tumble
Of soft flowers
On cold pavement
Here is the sun
Her soft, warm light
So welcome
On faces that peer
Through open windows
Springtime in London
No sandaled feet
Converge on corners
No cold glasses clinking
Toast to new life
Yet she persists
Green buds creep
Through every crevice
Creatures bask
In quiet contentment
All the while
We hide
The season’s delights
To us denied
