Sorry…

I Hate You

you know what word I hate

SORRY

I appreciate the premise of it and the thought intended when choosing to use it. I’ve even witnessed it used correctly.

but I have heard that word used as commonly as the greeting, hi.

a word generated to produce an action or de-escalation to an awkward or potentially stressful situation.

in my experience, followed with a lie.

what’s worse, I say it in most of my sentences.

for instance, I haven’t been up 30 minutes this morning and another person knocked a glass I had washed off of the counter. They said, “never put a glass on the front of the strainer,” and I said, “oh, I’m sorry.” thinking, “you didn’t see it there?” still, I apologized for something, not my fault.

I looked away and thought, “what are YOU sorry for?”

I apologize all the time, for the dumbest things. My daughter said to me, when I apologized for asking her to turn my car seat off, “stop that! You have the right to be comfortable, omg!”

I don’t know why I do it, I have always said it.

it has absolutely no meaning anymore.

someone help me, please.

I want to say sorry for the rant, but I won’t. please know, it was implied.

We often see ourselves as the cause of a problem when we arent. I often tel people they don't need to say sorry because no one is at fault.

You want to make the other person feel better, it can be habit. I am guilty of saying the word even if it’s not my fault. Very relatable poem ❤️

  • Always Good Writing 📝 ❤️😉

Yeah, I probably say it more than I should. But I am Canadian

  • And then you logged onto Vocal & found me apologizing for truly overstepping my boundaries. Though in my case, I truly have reason to be sorry for it & was & am not just saying it.
