Somewhere

A poem and a song

By Rasma RaistersPublished 5 days ago 1 min read

Somewhere in the distant past,

burned many bridges behind me,

was always able to understand,

the fickle finger of fate,

moved me along,

so every place I had to be, I was home.

Somewhere along the way.

I have stumbled and I have fallen,

always getting up and marching bravely along.

Alone is just a number,

one I now will always remember,

my writing and my poetry,

my imagination and my creativity,

give me the strength to make life worthwhile,

share with others and smile.

Somewhere in the treasure troves of my mind,

I open the chest of memories,

for a while I can be among,

the places and the faces,

of the yesterdays that used to be.

Somewhere along the way,

I remembered to keep the child alive in me,

enjoy the simple pleasures

and know that life is not done with me yet.

As life’s river flows along,

I find something to smile about around each bend

and someday when I round the last bend -

I’ll find myself somewhere in Paradise.
