Inspirational Words

A poetic meme, a poem, and a song

By Rasma RaistersPublished 8 days ago 1 min read

They say that –

the sword is not as mighty as the pen.

Writers and poets have long known this.

By their golden nuggets they will reap,

what they have sown.

Inspirational words come churning out,

like rapids upon a raging river.

They can make memories just like diamonds shine,

turn flowers into colorful butterflies

and take the reader to a magical land.

An artistic friend, drew a caricature,

of my father, as a poet.

There he was, upon a river of inky black,

a book of poems was the raft he rode,

navigating the waters with a huge pen.

Inspirational words can be thunderous,

tender with love, sad and melancholy,

they express the very heart and soul,

of the writer and poet.

While the poet’s, surrounded by muses,

who whisper and sing in delicate ears.

The writer lives in a world –

with characters he has created.

Inspirational words have a way,

of being able to say,

so very much in rhyme and reason -

no matter what the season.

In autumn they make colorful leaves,

go dancing upon the wind.

In winter poetic words of love,

can make a world of snow and ice,

so much warmer.

In spring they sing, of colorful blossoms

and butterflies flitting through sunny skies.

In summer when the days are slow and lazy,

Inspirational words can make daydreams happen.

Whether with pen or keyboard –

words come swirling along

and they can even create a song.

They can delight and surprise readers,

taking them on an emotional

roller coaster ride.

When everything has been said and done

and inspirational words come to an end,

the writer and the poet know—

that however long and slow it may be,

inspirational words will come flowing once more.
