Something I will Never Apologize For

In a world full of pastel colors

I will not apologize for my wine red personality

Or for the daring thoughts I water

Or for how long it takes to bloom into a flower;

I will not apologize for my abstract tattoos

Or for ruffling a few feathers with my writing

Or for the fact that poetry is how I navigate the world

And I will definitely not apologize

For coaxing the sun

To rise just for you.
