Some Time
With the Flying Dancers

Out the window, across the lake, above the hills, the grey clouds
They flew
Over the dull, beige fields, the naked scraggily trees
They flew
Away from their heartaches, their faraway thoughts, their messy lives
They flew
Twirling in sync, in flowery sundresses, dancing for no reason at all
Up, out of their minds with sheer joy
They flew
And, they never once regretted defying gravity
Circumstance
And pain, well, it was left, as it should be, in the beige.

Lovely poem- I especially love "Away from their heartaches, their faraway thoughts, their messy lives...they flew" and the very last line about pain being left behind. Very uplifting!
Up, out of their minds with sheer joy...yes!
SO freeing - love this and the way you've structured it!
Beautifully liberating—a dreamy escape from life's beige. Light, flowing, and unapologetically free. Love the defiance and joy in the flight! :)
This made me smile! Such a wonderful poem!
Now that’s a phenomenal last line! Love this.

Well-wrought! Our imagination bears us to places our feet cannot reach.
Yes!! I relate!😉💗
Mm, this is a gorgeous poem. I love the last line and appreciate the reminder that it is never regrettable to lift oneself up and out of our focus on all that stuff in the beige.
