Snail

A Poem

This poem started as a challenge from my ex.

"Write a poem"

"About what?"

Glances around the garden where we were sitting

".......a snail"

So I did. Very quickly. And it ended up being one of the poems I'm most proud of. The ex is long gone, thank goodness. He was pretty awful. But the poem is a keeper.

Pride is not something that comes easily to me. Self esteem is something I like the idea of. But feel like the word play in this one is clever. It flows nicely. it's punny. I like it.

I hope you do too.

🐌

Snail slides silently

Trails pale slime

Shell spirals inwards

Onwards it climbs

With proverbial pace

One foot at a time
