Slippery Slope
For Gabriel Huizenga’s lost-ish challenge
By Gerard DiLeoPublished 12 months ago • Updated 12 months ago • 1 min read

Uncertainty is frictionless
And frigid; I slide uncertain,
Unstuck to the ground,
Conductive, ungrounded,
Precipitate, and rushed—
Flushed with precipitation
That carries the current
I currently carry,
Shocking me, conducting me
Toward shocking conclusion.
.
Hauled to a heap
Of hopeless destination,
Destined to lie
In a hype of lies—
I lay disheveled
For the shovel above me
To heap the dirt on my grave,
Frozen, under the feet of others
Who will meet just me
To mete me justice, just ice.

I love your word play here, like always Gerard, especially just ice. Justice does seem to have abandoned our land. This is deep, desolate and dark. Great entry to the challenge!
Delightful read✅…love the playful use of words: “ Unstuck to the ground, Conductive, ungrounded, Precipitate, and rushed— Flushed with precipitation That carries the current I currently carry,”😄
Very creative! Well done.
Wonderful!! Love this!
The wordsmithing in this is SO clever! A profound reflection, expressed through very deft turns of phrase. Thanks so much for this brilliant entry, Gerard!
That was so poignant and profound. Loved your poem!
‘For the shovel above me’ Great line that adds an eerie feel to this piece
