Silhouettes in Black and Blue
"And I stare into the eye of a stranger..."
You say you love me,
And that you do it because you love me.
But I have never seen love defined,
By silhouettes in black and blue.
I try to talk to you,
And explain what is wrong in what you're doing,
But it doesn't matter.
That just gets you angrier,
And now I'm scared.
I open my eyes,
Pinned up against the wall,
And I stare into the eyes of a stranger.
He looks like you,
But he isn't you.
The man who said he loved me,
Didn't put his hands on me,
He didn't hurt me,
He would never dare to hurt me.
But you,
Staring at me with such rage in your eyes,
As you have your hand around my neck,
A tool in the other,
Ready to strike.
How did we get here?
How did undying love become a threat to my well being?
And how did it get you so enraged?
How did love go from twiddling fingers between each other's hands,
Seeming so innocent,
To me lying in the bed as you tell me to,
"Repent!"
You just did what you did.
You say you love me,
And that you do it because you love me.
But I've never seen love defined,
By silhouettes in black and blue.
