Did you feel the mattress burn?

did you see the lines blur?

did you think we'd never change?

did you taste the bitter rain?—

lost

did you hear the hushed sighs—

the arpeggiated screams to the void?

as the sinking ship called "we"

did not make landfall and was—

lost

Too late! Imma too lazy to look up arpeggios! Only that it is musical related. 💔

Every line in this poem punches above its weight, Paul, but the final line - as the sinking ship called “we” did not make landfall and was— lost, is a knock out!

Raw, real, and bloody marvelous, Paul! What we've all come to expect- but still unique and full of heart. "Did you taste the bitter rain" is a line that will stick with me, I think.

  • Feel the arpeggios rising to a scream here. The angst was powerfully expressed.
