Shush!
A poem about staying as quiet as possible in the movie theater.

Popcorn, anyone?
"Silence your cellphones," "no flash photography,"
I repeat the rules in my head as we take our seats, our excitement tangible.
Lights already dimming, my soda drenches the cupholder as I drop it in.
Entertained neighbors glance at my misfortune—scoffing, judging.
Napkins fly about, buttery popcorn trampled into the wine-red carpet.
"Careful!" I shriek, the mayhem of our theater entrance now a spectacle.
Ears perk, tempers flare and I finally hear the collective, "SHUSH!"
Damn it.

Ha! Been there many times. Great job interpreting this situation into an entry.
