Owl in the Barn
There's something incredibly off-putting about barn owls...

Sinister being? Friend or foe?
I am frozen, trapped in the stare of its black pit eyes.
Locks of hair tickle the back of my neck, but I control my breaths,
entirely too afraid of startling the feathered ghost, poised in the dark.
Nightmarishly rigid, its beak reflects the moonlight reaching in.
Cloaked in glossy tufts of down and dust, it does not turn away.
Eventually I back away, leaving the apparition alone in its new lair.

Fantastic nature poem!!!❤️❤️💕
Wow, very vivid poetry.
I love owls and rarely see them. Nice entry, Maddy! 'Feathered ghost' was a cool description!
I believe the Native Americans see owls as premonitions of death, do they not? This was an interesting and well done acrostic poem.
Omg this brought me back to seeing an owl in the wild for the first time. I was so shocked and didn't know what to do, so I went inside. Then I was like, " damn I gotta back". I went back to take a pic and I couldn't get close enough before it flew away.
